Victorian Branch Coral Gold-Filled Circular Brooch/Pin
Coral was thought to have protective properties in the Victorian era and often pieces of branch coral were incorporated into jewelry. This small pin is a great example of this kind of jewelry, with the coral at its center and lovely etched designs surrounding. This is an old piece, dating to the mid-latter half of the 19th century. The hinge mechanism is of bar-style and the c-clasp and pin that extends beyond the brooch itself helps date the piece. Unmarked, this pin is in very good condition. The pin is a bit crooked from use but is very functional. Measures 1/2" in diameter.
